Correct my sentence please

Dear teachers,

I am telephoning my friend since morning.

1. I am calling you since morning and I have been calling you since morning. Are both sentences correct?

In American English, when we contact someone by phone, the normal utterance is "calling". " meaning at this minute you are contacting your friend by phone.
