Correct me

Hi,

Which one is correct?

1. He is outside his friend's house

2. He is outside of his friend's house.

You will probably hear both, but in my experience the first sentence sounds more "correct" and it is actually what I would say. I'm looking forward to hearing more opinions though.

I agree with ozzourti. "Outside" is a preposition and doesn't need any help from the pleonastic 'of'.
