Correct grammar

What is the grammatically correct way to phrase this? : "Bob's and my relationship is improving." OR "Bob and I's relationship is improving."

"Bob's and my etc." is considered correct. I don't think anyone would accept "Bob and I's."

A good approach when unsure is to recast:

The relationship between Bob and me is improving.

"Bob's and my etc." is considered correct. I don't think anyone would accept "Bob and I's."

Yet I say this all the time, and have done so all my life. I was amazed a few years ago to find out via this Forum that it was uncommon.

Perhaps it is part of the idiolect I acquired as a child in Northern Ireland.
