Correct choice of word

To mean that I use gestures to demonstrate arbitrary stuff or whatever I'm talking about, which one makes more sense? Or can anyone recommend another verb?


1. I tend to use gestures to act out what I'm saying.

2. I use gestures to animate what I'm saying.
