Correct answer

I got this question from a test and cannot figure out correct choice.

He was completely silent during the meeting, apart from making the ........
remark or two.

a) odd
b) strange
c) one
d) unique

This question interests me also because I'd like to know difference between odd/srange in
similar context like:

strange voices or odd voices
he has strange name or he has odd name

Thanks
Peter

'Odd' has several meanings, including 'occasional', as in 'He was completely silent during the meeting, apart from making the odd remark or two'. In your other examples, 'odd' and 'strange' are synonyms, although 'odd' is slightly more palliative than 'strange': 'I saw a strange man on the street', but 'I have an odd uncle'.
