Correct?

1. The strands of the rope were cut with a strong effort by the boy.

2. The strands of the rope were cut by the boy with a strong effort.

I would like to know whether it is correct to use the adverb phrase 'with a strong effort' in the sentences?

That's not wrong but more natural in everyday English is eg With lot of effort, the boy cut the rope. Clive
