She looked at her mother, searching some kind of reaction from her, but she was just quiet.

Is this correct?

I don't like that final "she". I had to go back and pick one of the two females in the sentence, just for a microsecond, but that is too long. Also, you're missing a word.

I don't like that final "she". I had to go back and pick one of the two females in the sentence, just for a microsecond, but that is too long. Also, you're missing a word. Maybe "Doris looked at her mother, searching for some kind of reaction from her, but she was just quiet."
