Correct?

Hi teachers,

The Y-shaped bone in birds is known as a wishbone beacuse of the tradition that when two people hold sides of it and pull it apart, the one with the larger part will have a wish granted.

Is this sentence grammatically correct or not. Actually, I didn't understand what this sentence means.

Anonymous The Y-shaped bone in birds is known as a wishbone because of the tradition that when two people hold sides of it and pull it apart, the one with the larger part will have a wish granted. It's somewhat poorly written, but it's grammatically correct. hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=&bih=&q=wishbone&btnG=Search+by+image#hl=en&tbm=isch&q=turkey+wishbone&revid=1953213662 CJ

Thank you CJ. How can we fix the poorly written part? By omitting because or adding new words?

We fix poorly written texts by rewriting them, of course! You can add or subtract words, or you can change words, or you can change the order of words. There are many, many ways to rewrite a text.
