Correct?

Dear Friends,

In the following sentence I have two things that I want you to have a look at:

This example has been taken from Giora (2005) but I owe it to Ronnie Brosh, from whom Giora had borrowed it as a result of? a personal communication in 2003.

1. Is the past perfect (had borrowed) o.k.?
2. What preposition/structure is used here?
