0A coroner is a public official, but otherwise I suppose they do pretty much the same thing when a death is unnatural-- look for clues and reasons. 0-

no a coroner is a person who handles the deceased at the crime scene, they take no evidence. the medical doctor or the medical examiner is the one to pronounce you dead at the scene, they are the one to do the autopsy .. so no they are completely two different occupations...
