Corner shop

Hi.
I wonder if corner shop is synonymous with convenience store?
My understanding is that, both refer to the same kind of shop, but the usage is kind of regional.
Let me know if I am wrong.

Hi, Yes, it's often the same kind of store. But I would only call it a corner store if it is on or near a corner. Clive

And I would not call it a convenience store unless it was open long hours and sold a wide variety of items. In other words, a corner shop might be a convenience store, and vice versa, but not necessarily.
