I was cordially invited to attend the party by the bride's mother, so I did attend it, otherwise I have cordial dislike for him(bride).

Please correct my sentence.

  • The bride is the woman; bridegroom is the man.
  • It would be more usual to say "so I went" - "so I did attend it" does not sound fluent.

I don't see how you can have a 'cordial' dislike for someone.

I agree - it's an oxymoron. But at the same time I have met it, usually in books from the mid-20th century, and usually indicating that the dislike is not very strong.
