Copying someone with correspondence

What is correct way for copying someone with a letter now because today we make a copy of the letter on copy machine and in the past we were doing a carbon copy - so would you still say cc: or xc: or is either correct?

Top answer

"cc:" is acceptable in any medium -- electronic or paper -- regardless of how the copy is physically produced. The fact that it originally stood for "carbon copy" is now largely forgotten (or, at least, not uppermost in people's minds).
