With no context, neither seems wrong. But are you talking about data on a screen? On a paper form, with boxes?

Data on a screen. Picture a question box with a question in it and you have to copy and paste the question in the answer box. Without trying to complicate the instructions for the user, I want say "...copy the question the to/ into the answer field"

Either is OK. I prefer 'into'.

Do you want to call it a field or a box? Or just call it 'the answer'?Which is easiest for your reader to understand?
