Cooking related vocabulary

Hello! I am really confused with some words related to cooking and it seems that even dictionaries do not make things easier.First of all, I would like to know what the world casserole means. Is it a utensil or a way to cook food? Second, how do we call the common pot we use to make food like soups, boiled meat, namely something not fried or grilled or roasted (I hope it sounds clear to you) etc. Third, I have recently heard the word skillet. Is it another name for the frying pan? And last, what's the difference between roast and grill? Which one of them would we use for food cooked on coals?

I would be really really grateful if a native speaker could make the above clear to me!!

Specifically, roasting is coooking with dry head. It's usually done in the oven, but doesn't have to be.
If you cook something in the oven (or in a slow cooker) in liquid, you are braising. Tougher cuts of meat need some liquid.
