Cookery

Hello!

I would like to know the meaning of these culinary art terms, please:

Cayenne = (by the way I found "Cayenne pepper". Is it right, or is there any other meaning? And what is "Cayenne pepper"?);

Ranch dressing = (I know the meaning of dressing and ranch, but "ranch dressing" I suppose it's not a dressing made in ranches. There must be another idea, no?);

Topping = (besides the meaning of "icing" and "any kind of cream used 'to cover' cakes and ice creams", can this word topping be used in any other context within cookery?

Best wishes,

C.B.

Cayenne = cayenne pepper. Made from the dried red peppers of the capsicum family. Cayenne pepper is ground from dried chillies where both the pod and the seeds of very hot chillies are used making it very fiery - as such it should be used to taste.

There are many different salad dressing available in the U.S., and it's not clear where they get their names. "Italian dressing" is pretty straightforward -- it's oil, vinegar and seasonings -- but there's a
