Anonymous Raj said to Tom "How do you do?""How do you do?" is not converted to indirect speech in the usual textbook style. In that 'grammar exercise' style, the 'correct' answer (Raj asked Tom how he did) ignores the idea that "How do you do?" is what you say when introduced to someone.
