Hi there. I am a British native English teacher working in Egypt. I really need to very good English conversational books to recommend course work for my students. Please can you advise?

Forget textbooks. Use newspapers and magazines—current articles of interest. Every Sunday I buy the newspaper, cut out the photographs of news stories, paste them onto a sheet of paper, and have my students (of virtually all levels of fluency) talk about them.

Many of us learnt English from textbooks. We cannot carry on everyday conversations naturally!
I read newspapers everyday - the language is different from what you need to learn to carry out everyday conversation like the English kids do!

Yes tried them too but not enough you can say - you can understand news, documentaries even dramas but it's difficult to understand English teenagers and all those folks in the streets, and even those movies - what a waste of talent they are most of the time!

The Express English section of BBC English is particularly good. Have you had a look at that? It is interviews with people on the street and includes people of all different ages and with different regional accents.
