Contributions

It was not his career that brought Hugh fame but his contributions to the MNS and organizations for the disabled. This endeared him to Malaysians.

I personally think that the red colour word should be used instead of these. But some told me that contributions is a plural, but i think we use much for contributions so this should be used for an uncountable noun....Am i wrong?
