contribute vs help

What is the difference between them? I quite know that when I should use each one, but I would appreciate if you give me a comprehensive answer. Thanks.

Contribute means that you give towards something, you don't do it all. It could be money/food or efforts (work) that you give put you are only part of the help that is being received. Help is a general term for anything that you do for somebody else.
