Content has been "retired" and not available

Hello all,

This is the first time I've ever read the word "retired is" being used with "content". Does it really correct?

If it were correct, accordingly, can I say: " The book has retired from the library." It sounds a little bit funny to me ,though.

Thank you

Moonrise Does Is it really correct? It seems a bit strange. I would use archived, deleted, removed or something similar.

Moonrise" The book has been retired from the library."

I would use "removed from the library's collection."
