Content clause

Hi,

I'd like to know if the adjective 'sad' can license a content clause in the subject position.

That this beauty should not be seen and appreciated by others is sad.

Or the content clause occurs only in extraposed subject function?

It is sad that this beauty should not be seen and appreciated by others is sad.

I would appreciate an answer.

Thank you Clive for the prompt reply.

So both sentences are correct and carry the same meaning, right?
