Hey Friends,

What is the difference between "contend" and "claim"? Difference of formal and informal? or any other difference?

Thanks and regards,

a person claims something about themselves: He claims to have graduated from Yale, but the university has no record of his even attending. He claims he is heir to some obscure European duchy. I contend something about someone else, or some issue.
