hi,

i still don't understand, sorry

your alternative:

I am responsible for contacting clients, and both collecting and analyzing data.

is similar to my sentence 1

ie, has an "and" after client

the difference is that after the word 'and' there is the word 'both' which changes the sentence and really make sence in that case...

Im not a native speaker but I think my grammar is not bad)

Good luck!)

They're both OK, but the second one is better. You're dealing with two things (clients and data), so it's better to use "and" to separate them. (Even though the second one has two things that also need "and".

Asima's alternative is good too. Adding "both" makes things clearer.

I would use the "and," and I would not use the "both."
