This is an interesting case of present participle vs infinitive, and gerund vs present continuous tense.

The way you've phrased this can be ambiguous. I believe the poster who followed you misinterpreted your meaning.
Perhaps he thought you were saying, However, in some cases, the correct way is to destroy your dream to learn English! . This does seem like a strange recommendation.

How would we make it more clear?
