Hello, I'm back with my tics.
Which expression works best?

Thanks!

Hi pieanne, Do you mind telling us what you want to say? I probably can't help you, but I'm sure many could.

Hi pieanne,

Do you mind telling us what you want to say?

I probably can't help you, but I'm sure many could. Emotion: smile

I'm talking of a man suffering from the Tourettes syndrome; sometimes they are relatively subdued, but at other times they come back in full strength, that's what I'd like to ewpress here: "sometimes he was a complete prey to theses tics, he was ... by them"

Hey, it's not a matter of knowing, it's a matter of speaking.
Is it correct to say someone is overwhelmed by tics? I mean, you, ESnative, would you raise an eyebrow?
I mean tics are all over his face.(and the rest of him)
"consumed by tics?"/" with tics"?
"aravged", "devastated" with tics (I don't like devastated that much)

Dear pieanne,

I hope I haven't misled you. I'm no native speaker! I like to mimic the way natives talk, and on a good day, I do a semi-decent job.

Actually, I don't know how people get "ticks".

Hi Pieanne,

I don't think I would say "he was consumed by tics" - this might give an impression of the wrong sort of tic(k).

Overwhelmed; devastated, oppressed, persecuted, crippled, riven, shattered, crippled, disabled, incapacitated.
