Consult Mrs. Jones

Hi

I just read in The Faber Dictionary of Euphemisms (R.W. Holder) that  consult Mrs. Jones is a common euphemism for the word urinate?

I tried to check it on http://fraze.it/  but couldn't find much. Could you please tell me if it is a common euphemism among native speakers?

Thanks,

Tom

Yes, in my childhood, I used to be taught so. Consulting Mrs. Jones is to indirectly ask for permission to go to the toilet. It is really the beauty of language.

It's not in the UK. It might have been long ago.

Never heard of it, but see

'horse' sometimes substitutes for 'dog'.
