Consult me about

As a psychologist I'm used to it as people come to consult me about a lot of depressing stuff all the time.

Is "consult me about" used correctly here?

And should I add a "with" after consult?

Top answer

I'd add a comma after psychologist but the sentence seems fine otherwise. There's no need for with in this situation. Consult with means that you're discussing an issue with someone but as a psychologist you're merely listening and giving advice.
