Letter Writing

constructive critisim needed

(moderated to remove personal details)

hey everyone. i have writen a character letter for a friend of mine for court. i have never done this before and would like anyone who has before give me some feedback, pls?

here it is..

To the Judge:

This letter is in regards to George X., providing him with a character reference from a friend who has known him for five years now. Over these five years, I have seen him as a friend and as a father.

As a friend of mine, George is the one that I consider to be the closest to me and the one I respect the most. He has been supportive, compassionate, caring, and thoughtful at the times when I have needed him the most. He is the one that can make me smile and bring me back up when I am down.

But also, George is just the kind of person that is fun to be around. Whether it is playing darts, watching a movie or just talking to him, there is always something about it to make it very enjoyable and memorable. He has a great personality that can be seen by anyone just by the expressions that are on his face.

Being a father makes George proud. I know how much he loves his children. He proves that by the way he talks of them and how much, due to the current situation, it has torn him up inside by not being able to see them. He misses them greatly.

Honestly, I know George very well. There is nothing I could negatively say about him. . He knows he has made a mistake and regrets that a lot. If he was to do time, I worry about his mental health. The past seven months has been hard on him. I just hope this letter can help to show what kind of person he truly is, honest and genuine. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

It's Ok but really you need to be presenting him as a good honest citizen rather than a good mate. The fact that he plays darts and is fun to be around won't make much impression on the judge. Can you think of any hard evidence for George helping others and being a good citizen - does he do any voluntary work, is he involved with community action, charities etc?

  • (Difficult I know as it sounds as though he does not see his children).
