Is the following grammatical and does it sound natural?
I was consoling Liz on breaking up with her boyfriend.
Thanks in advance.
For me, the use of "on" is not really satisfactory. While grammatical, it doesn't seem to create the correct semantic connection between the two parts. I would try to find another way to say it, such as "I was consoling Liz after her breakup with her boyfriend".
