Making a difference in our world? Or in our society? Or should it be to our society?

Can I say to our civilization?

Thanks!

Consideration and civility are key to making a difference to/in our civilization.

Should it be to or in?

The grammar is fine.

But 'our civilization' is such a huge concept that it makes it seem a little extreme to suggest that consideration and civility make such a huge difference. But, if that's your opinion.,OK.
