Consider...as

I usually use as with regard but not with consider:

I regard this as an honor.

I consider this an honor.

However when the direct object of consider and the complement are longish, it seems convenient to insert as anyway.

Here is a sentence that I have in my novel:

I considered an invitation to design swimwear as something of an honor.

Anyone care to comment?
