consider the facts vs the fact

Hi~

I am confused about the difference between a pair of the sentences below. I'm guessing it is related to the difference between 'think of' and 'consider'. To be honest, I am afraid my question don't make a sense. But, would you take a look at them?

1.Let us consider the fact.
2.Let us consider the facts.

Although I am not sure, I'm guessing #1 mean we should decide the rightness or the wrong of the fact rather than just mean that we had better think of the fact without deciding whether the fact is right or wrong.

If it is right, I'm wondering whether it is applied to #2. I mean... Does #2 imply there are several facts before us and we had better choose one or two that seem to be right? Or does #1 just mean you had better think of several facts?

Many thanks in advance!
