Hi, I would like to know if these sentences are correct:

Mrs Ravi told Susan to sort the books in alphabetical order before she put them on the shelves.
(I would have written: Mrs Ravi told Susan to sort the books in alphabetical order before putting them on the shelves.)

They will not believe that you are sorry unless you show them that you really mean it.
(I find it awkward - I would have prefer to rewrite it in the following way: They will not believe you are sorry unless you show them you really mean it.)

The principal was very disappointed with Mindy's behaviour although she decided to give her a second chance.
(I would have written it this way: Although the principal was very disappointed with Mindy's behaviour, she decided to give her a second chance.)

In my opinion, your "less wordy" improvements in the first two examples are good. However, the two originals are also correct. I think the third original makes no sense semantically.

  • I think the third original makes no sense semantically.
  • Your "correction" is excellent.
