Hello,
I am calling by phone to someone and waiting while he/she pick up/take up a phone. How does this period of time name? Connection, connection trial, connection attempt or other?
Thanks

You might call it an attempt to connect, but that's a very technical way to describe it. In ordinary English we just say that we're waiting for someone to pick up on the other end.

Thanks a lot CJ, and "Skype".
Actually I exactly need a little formal explanation in my text.
“During the connection attempt a cell phone emits microwaves the most”, something like that.
Thanks

Even so, 'connection attempt' doesn't strike me as the smoothest turn of phrase. I might write:

A cell phone emits most microwaves while attempting to make a connection.
A cell phone emits microwaves the most during its attempt to connect.
