Conjunction omission?

1. The new comupters marginalize the value of older, slower ones.

Sometimes, conjunctions such as and or or are omitted and replace them with comma?

Ah.. sometimes, we enumerate things without conjunction but just like that?

He's a tall, dark and handsome gentleman. So this is the same? but just without conjunction?
