Conjunction between constituents in negative sentences

Dear all,

below is a sentence I was asked to translate and I'm intrigued whether an 'or' would fit better in the place of that last 'and' (before the 'idioms')

I don' t suppose it terribly matters, but I am a bit of a grammar freak and like to know things precisely.

thanks a lot in advance

Lenka

A common misconception is that there exists a simple word-for-word correspondence between any two languages, and that translation is a straightforward mechanical process; such a word-for-word translation, however, cannot take into account context, grammar, conventions, and idioms.
