I'd say:

«Some dancers wear special shoes, the toes whereof are stiff.» or

«Some dancers wear special shoes whose toes are stiff.» or

«Some dancers wear special shoes with stiff toes.»

I may be wrong, but to me it seems that neither "and" not "but" fits here...
