Confusion of why

Hello teachers,

There is a question given below . my problem is that I have a little confusion about why that is in the question please help
me for this.

'' Why lies did the wolf tell to Little Red Riding Hood's grand mother?''

According to me the question should be'' What lies did the wolf tell to Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother?''
Please tell me which one is correct.

It should be "What lies did the wolf tell ...", as you say.

"Why lies did the wolf tell ..." doesn't make any sense.

"Why did the wolf tell lies ..." would also be correct (obviously with a different meaning).

"grandmother" should be one word.

'' Why lies did the wolf tell lies to Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother?''
