Confusion in the structure.

1.The company is believed to have lost a lot of money last year.

2. The company is expected to make a loss this year.

Its clear that the two sentences are correct but In the 1st one if we say ‘ The company is believed to loss a lot of money last year.‘ then will there be any change in the meaning?
