Confusion about using "help"

Hi Guys,

I have come across these two versions of the usage of "help". Which one is correct or more appropriate?

(1) It is of no help calling her, for she is busy with her project.

(2) it is no help calling her, for she is busy with her project.

Is it proper to use "of" while using "help"?

Thank you.

Regards.
