Confusion abounds

Confused!

Oxford Online Dictionary says that the comma goes inside the quote marks (e.g. after 'That,') in BrE. Yet the Oxford Guide to Style says it goes outside. See below.

'That,' he said, 'will cause problems.'

'That', he said, 'will cause problems.'

'I,' he said, 'am disgusted by her actions.'

'I', he said, 'am disgusted by her actions.' (Original sentence is 'I am disgusted by her actions', not 'I [comma] am disgusted by her actions.'

And in BrE, would the comma go inside or outside after 'actions' below?

Original sentence is 'I am disgusted by her actions', not 'I [comma] am disgusted by her actions.'

Thanks for any direction here.

For the rules on comma placement, look to the style guide that is used by the journal, newspaper or other media you are writing for. The rules vary, as you have discovered.
