Hi,

1) You are trying to emphasize what you see as facts to others.

2) You are trying to reorganize the thoughts others have told you, presumably, as facts.

3) Some one has made a mess of something, and you try to fix or correct it.

i.e. If you work in a medical facility, you can say "let me straighten it out for you", when your coworker has filed the patients' record in the wrong order.
