Confused words ( down the road and down the line)

1) He is going to take action down the road.

2) He is going to take action donw the line.

Do they have the same meaning as " in the future"? if not , what are the differences?

Both are idiomatic expressions for "in the future". They can also have literal meanings - he lives down the road. Go two stops further down the line (e.g. a subway line).
