Confused words ( back off and back up)

1) It is dangerous, back up!

2) It is dangerous , back off!

Which one is correct? what is the difference?

"back off" seems more likely. It means "move away (from something)".

"back up" seems less likely but is possible. Here it means "move backwards", usually said of a vehicle. So, if you wanted someone to reverse a vehicle away from danger you could say "It's dangerous, back up!". The contraction "it's" would normally be used.

Purists might quibble about the use of the comma here a
