Confused with these 2 sentences.

" put on more clothes"

"take more clothes"

what is the difference between these two sentences?

I prefer "extra" over "more" with the original context.

Take an extra sweater, the wind is kicking up.

Put on an extra jacket, it's chilly this morning.

He put on more clothes today because the weather is much colder than yesterday.

"More" has an element of comparison in my opinion.
