Confused! Please, help!

Hello!

Please,explain me. If the correct is to say: The Ford's family or The Ford family; The Thompson's family or The Thompson family, The Oliveira's family or The Oliveira family...So how to explain what I saw in a book : The Andersons' house, e.g?

And in the case of a family with a last name "Médicis"? What should I write, besides The Medicis family ?
