Confused?

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to sharpen my English language skills recently and I have been having a hard time learning tenses especially the perfect form of tenses. One thing, for example, is this sentence: Ever since I was first read to, then started reading to myself there has never been a line read that I didn't hear.

My question is: can I say:... There has never been a line read that I have not heard?

Thanks in advance.
