Confused

Hi, I'm watching a 'Mentalist' right now and there was quite odd, for me of course, phrase 'she cried' instead of 'she was crying' and can we say so if it's imperfect action?

You will have to supply more sentence context. Both phrases are common and correct. What do you mean by 'imperfect'? It is not a term we generally use in English grammar.
