Confused!

Question

Hello,
Since 6 months I was working on a project for Tourism mainly focusing on the battlefields and for tourism attraction. This month I will have to submit the project. Well the main thing is I am not able to write an acknowledgement or a appreciation note how thankful I am to the village people who helped me showing places, students who assited in field inspection, to the editor who helped in editing finding time even when he had busy schedules and lastly thanking a English Honor Graduate for helping in writing and finding all the informations for me.
If you could write something related to my above confusion...

Here is the sample acknowledgement prepared to the best of my knowledge. I hope this would help you in preparing an acknowledgement draft in your own words.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the government authorities/company authorities
( write whichever is applicable)for permitting me to take up this project on Tourism with
special focus on battlefields and on tourism attraction.

I am thankful to all the villagers who helped me in showing the places, to all the students who
assisted me in field inspection, to the Editor who helped me in editing the project, and finally
to the Honours graduate in English literature who helped me in writing part of the project.

I am also thankful to all others who helped me directly or indirectly towards the completion of
this project.

Which country are you working in?

This sounds old -fashioned to me (English English native speaker) but it may be appropriate if you are submitting the project in, say, India.

Well, there is a saying in English " OLD IS GOLD".I thought old way of writing may help him in getting the things done.

I am from India, and this is the way we write an acknowledgement to the higher authorities. We strictly follow the protocol order when writing letters. May be it is old fashioned as per your perception.

I have only given an option or a sample to the anonymous person who posted this question. It was not an answer from my side, but only a sample.

In the end, I would appreciate your effort if you could re-write the acknowledgement letter in Modern way of writing.

Just in passing, I would like to comment that one of the difficulties of using any 'standard' English internationally is indeed that Indian English, one of the major world Englishes, has preserved more British English of the colonial period then BrE or AmE has, so just as BrE speakers and AmE speakers find 'mistakes' in each other's English, they also find 'mistakes' in Indian English (and other Englishes) – while no doubt IndE speakers find many infelicities in BrE and AmE.

In this transition period when communications are international but International English does not yet exist, it will behoove us to consider who precisely we are communicating with when we select the terms and phrases we use.

Do we know which country the report is being submitted in.

The best usage in this case is clearly that of the country where the report will be read

.

Modern British English would be along the lines of:

I would like to thank the Ministry of Tourism who sponsored me to carry out this project.

In addition, I would like to thank Mrs Peel who assisted in the analysis of data and Henry Lagrange who helped guide my historical reasearch

Anything more fullsome would sound insincere to British ears. Note however that it would probably sound fine to French or Italian ones as these languages tend to be much more formal than British English.
